TestedHarbor

About us

We care more about the right purchase than the quick click.

Our editorial standard

TestedHarbor publishes research-led product reviews and buying guides. Our job is to explain who a product is for, where it falls short, and which ownership costs or constraints matter after the first week.

The TestedHarbor Editorial Team

Home technology and everyday product researchers

TestedHarbor editors cover air quality, home networking, audio, smart-home security, automotive technology, personal care, and pool and outdoor equipment. For each guide, we define the buying criteria that matter in that category, compare specifications and independent evidence, examine ownership costs and support, and explain which products suit different users. Our recommendations are research-led unless hands-on testing is explicitly stated.

TestedHarbor Editors is a shared byline used when research, fact-checking, or updates involve more than one contributor.

How we research products

We begin with the buying decision, not a commission list. Depending on the category, we review official specifications and support documents, warranty and return terms, recurring ownership costs, retailer availability, independent measurements, and patterns in owner feedback. Brand claims are treated as claims until they can be confirmed by a primary source or consistent independent evidence.

Comparisons are organized around real use cases such as room size, fit, connectivity, installation effort, repairability, subscription requirements, and long-term cost. We include a product only when there is enough evidence to explain both the recommendation and its limitations.

Evidence labels

A hands-on statement appears only when a contributor has directly used the product. Research-based conclusions rely on cited documentation, independent testing, or clearly attributed owner reports. We avoid turning estimated performance, retailer copy, or marketing language into an unqualified fact.

Each research-led product review identifies its evidence basis near the beginning of the article and provides page-specific sources near the end. A research-led label means TestedHarbor has not tested that product hands-on unless the page explicitly says otherwise.

Updates and corrections

Guides are reviewed when products, prices, policies, or source material change. A substantive revision updates the visible date; minor formatting changes do not. When we find a material error, we correct the page rather than quietly preserving an outdated claim. Correction requests can be sent to [email protected] or through the contact page.

How affiliate links work

Some links may earn a commission. That helps fund research, editing, and hosting, but it does not buy a recommendation or a higher position. We disclose commercial links and keep the same tradeoff analysis whether or not a product has an affiliate program.

What we do not do

We do not publish paid placements disguised as independent reviews, claim hands-on testing that did not happen, or rank a product higher because it pays more. We also do not pretend every category needs an expensive upgrade pick.

Evidence firstSpecifications, measurements, and brand claims are kept distinct.
